The renovation of the building aimed to preserving the architectural values of what is a slice of architectural history. The building was planned in the first decade of the construction of the Eixample Neighbourhood. During the renovation of the building the developers were in constant contact with the city hall and the department of “patrimony” that controls and governs the architectural heritage in Barcelona. The developer has then gone on to upgrade the property through a beautiful blend of the old and the new.
In general terms, it can be stated that floors from 1 to 4 include two dwellings per floor, but in a coherent manner and taking into account the own particular typology of the Eixample, they are front-to-back dwellings that go from the street to the inner court façade. The most outstanding feature to be highlighted is that the day zone of the dwellings is designed as a continuous space with a wide range of possibilities for their use. Two bedrooms with ensuite bathroom and a third auxiliary bathroom with a laundry area complete the program.
The Penthouse include a splendid terrace of about 45 m2 facing the street. In other words, it is an exclusive dwelling that occupies the whole floor. The day zone is diaphanous in parallel to the terrace and has a surface area of approximately 90 m2 allowing several functional organizations. On the inner court façade there are three double bedrooms provided with dressing room and ensuite bathroom. An auxiliary bathroom and a laundry and drying area complete this exclusive penthouse. The Neighborhood of Eixample
Eixample, which can be literally translated from Catalan as “extension” for being the newest part of the city, is a large area north of Plaça Catalunya to the left and Passeig de Gràcia to the right. In fact, this place is an extension of the city that benefited greatly thanks to the ingenious urban planning that was in the hands of the Catalan engineer Cerdá during the 1850s. Cerdá had weakness for straight lines, which is why the arranging of the whole area is on a grid and each buildings block has an internal patio. This means that it is very difficult to get lost in the Eixample and, as a result, very easy to find places.
Today, the Eixample is famous for being home to most of Barcelona’s art nouveau masterpieces and because it is a high class residential area with many shops and some of the best city´s restaurants. It´s a great place to live in, always full of life and things to do. Check out our other Real Estate in Eixample
