It is the best time of the year to enjoy what this city has to offer as main activities, events, and festivities. The Easter weekend is scheduled from 19 to 22 April 2019. During this long weekend, Catholics celebrate this period with various ceremonies, masses and parades.
But that is not the only thing!
People in Spain are well known for their good humour, joy of living and their love of partying. That’s why many activities are organized in every corner of Barcelona: parades, chocolate and pastry shop windows are packed with delicacies, and events.
To begin with, you can participate in processions organized on the square outside Barcelona Cathedral from 16:00 to 23:00 on Good Friday, April 19, 2019.
At the end of the day, you will find Barcelona’s Easter parade: The procession of the Virgin of Macarena, which begins at the famous Raval district.
If you are a fan of Barcelona’s atypical celebrations, you can enjoy the Spanish vida Loca by participating in the ELROW event, Barcelona which will take place from 11:00 am on Friday, April 19, 2019.
On Saturday, 20th April 2019, you can eat a Mona de Pascua, a Genoese cake that can take different forms. You can find them in the windows of bakeries in the form of chocolate figurines, animals, famous people, and more.

To end the weekend on a high note, you can visit the famous Basilica of the Sagrada Familia. You can find the Easter Mass which will take place on Sunday, April 21, 2019, starting at 9am. According to tradition, Easter Sunday is known mainly by the parades of people holding oars around the basilica. But also, children with palm leaves in their hands, a gift from their family. You can buy them in the market outside Barcelona Cathedral or the Sagrada Familia.
Remember that Friday and Monday are public holidays in Spain, some shops and restaurants may be closed.
